Experience built over time
Proud to be based in Bradford, Yorkshire the UK's manufacturing heartland
The business is intentionally small, hands-on and senior-led. When you work with Rich Material, you work directly with someone who has spent more than 26 years in digital, software, eCommerce, business operations and transformation.
Before setting up Rich Material, Richard co-founded and ran Marvellous, a digital agency specialising in eCommerce, websites and bespoke digital systems. The agency was successfully sold in 2020, after which Richard worked as Director of Digital at Ponderosa and The Audience Collective, supporting digital strategy, technical direction, new business, operations and project delivery.
In 2021, Rich went back to running his own business, Rich Material Ltd. The focus has moved increasingly towards manufacturing, digital transformation and operational systems. This has included work across MES planning, ERP strategy, legacy system reviews, process mapping, bespoke software projects, app development and digital roadmaps for manufacturing businesses.

Honest, practical and independent
Rich Material is not a large consultancy, and does not pretend to be one. The value comes from senior experience, practical thinking and the ability to understand how a business really works before recommending technology.
Projects are often supported by a trusted network of third-party specialists, freelancers and businesses.
This network has been built over many years and includes people with experience across software development, UX and UI design, websites, systems integration, data, automation, marketing and technical delivery.
This gives clients the benefit of senior strategic support, without being tied to one fixed delivery model or supplier.
Grants and funded support
Rich Material also has strong experience helping businesses access funded digital support. Richard has successfully delivered work through programmes including Digital Enterprise, Made Smarter, Ad:Venture and Oxford Innovation.
This experience is useful for businesses looking to invest in digital strategy, systems, software, AI or transformation, but who want to understand whether grant funding or business support programmes could help reduce risk and unlock progress.
